... the best reason to drink coffee
Drying coffee beans

The Oomph! Tasmanian Gourmet Coffee range of coffees

Our products are genuine ‘Specialty Grade’ coffees. Most are hand-picked, sun-dried, shade-grown, bird-friendly, organic, Rainforest Alliance, Cup of Excellence and/or Global Care

At any one time you might find sacks of beans in our store from places like Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatamala, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and northern areas of Australia. The best beans come from mountain regions. They are denser and require a longer roasting time. Beans grown at low altitudes can be roasted quickly, in a matter of a few minutes, because of their low density, but the taste is decidedly inferior.

Coffee is similar to wine. Coffee beans, like grapes, are affected by climate, altitude and soil. In fact, coffee is more complex than wine and those who appreciate the art are guided by fragrance, aroma, acidity, body and after-taste.

Oomph! Tasmanian Gourmet Coffee blends:

Java Jo

Java Jo Coffee Blend

Java Jo is our most popular blend!

Java Jo is an award-winning, balanced blend with coconut, leather and spice aromatics, and spice, dark choc and caramel toffee flavours.

Rich and bold with thick crema, Java Jo is perfect to cut through milk and give the famous Oomph! Tasmanian Gourmet Coffee flavour in cappuccinos and lattes. It is a very bold espresso with medium acidity which is toned down in milk to give a lush, full flavour.

Java Jo is exciting to roast as we take it to a precise degree, every time, through our profiling system. It is a wonderful coffee to work with as it is consistent and gains fans all over the country.

We find it particularly appealing to folks living in Australia as it seems to have just the right character fit. This is a med/med/dark roast.

Includes: Guatemalan Antigua (genuine) Rainforest Brazil, premium Indonesian and Indian Estate coffee.

BeanFair

BeanFair Coffee Blend

BeanFair is a pure certified Fairtrade coffee.

Coffee workers are paid fair wages, and coffee farmers are guaranteed fair prices. As a fully certified, licenced Fairtrade roaster, we like to make sure our customers are getting coffees that are crafted with a conscience, and that coffee workers and their children are looked after. BeanFair is coffee with a conscience. We like to think of our coffee as ‘Global Care Coffee’.

BeanFair can have slight nut tones, definite deep choc-caramel notes, some blueberry fruit and excellent body.

As an espresso it has some spice, fruit/nut, and heavy body. In milk it has full flavour and a satisfying balance.

Coffees included in BeanFair are organic Sumatran F/T , and Ethiopian Harrar, amongst others.

Romeo was acclaimed as Tasmania’s Champion Coffee in 2007

Our RoastMasters take on a lush, Italian style blend that makes for a perfect cafe choice. Lovely, well-rounded and refreshing, due to just the right amount of famous Daterra Rainforest Alliance Brazil.

We use an Estate Indonesian for body and Estate Guatemalan for a choc spice note. Also included are some rare South American beans, and Panama Boquete brings up clarity. Our RoastMaster also uses a touch of P.N.G Amagu robusta for authenticity.

Romeo is a Royal Sydney Show award winner.

Plunge is one of the finest plunger coffees in the world today.

Cupping by Australia’s toughest judges, under the most prestigious competition in this country has proved Plunge to be a very rare and totally rewarding experience for the plunger coffee lover.

Fruity, with clean refreshing notes, and a slight nut hint, very few coffees can compare. Plunge has an amazing balance of clean body, acidity, and lovely rounded flavour. It is a delicate coffee, yet not lacking in substance.

The coffees included in Plunge are a carefully-kept family secret, but we can tell you that the coffees included are premium estate coffees from three different continents.

Plunge has been ranked in Australia’s top three plunger coffees for four years running.

Mexican Mountain Water Decaf

Finally you can drink a great tasting water Decaf, as the Mountain Water Processes developed and used in the DESCAMEX plant preserves the original characteristics, aroma and flavour of their green coffee.

These processes have been organic certified by OCIA (as USDA NOP), and JAS since 2003. Following recent traceability trends, they are also certified as Utz Kapeh coffee traders and are about to obtain the Rainforest Alliance and Fair Trade certifications.

They have been awarded the title of “ESR” (Socially Responsible Enterprise) in 2006 by the Mexican Philanthropic Centre, in recognition of their commitment to the environment, to their community and to their associates.
